“To everything, there is a season.”

Hello again –

With the onset of winter’s chill, we approach the solstice which heralds the shortest day in the northern hemisphere. The dark of winter advances with dusky gloom, which at times may dampen mood and outlook.

Yet despite appearances, the sun is always shining. We may not see it, but have no doubt it will soon cast its light again upon us. How wonderful to welcome the warming rays as they peek through the atmosphere, exciting the brain with a cascade of serotonin to brighten spirits and put a spring in the step.

The gloam and darkness of the season can cause some to momentarily lose sight of the light within them, as sadness and melancholy come to call. Though the sun daily gives proof of its existence, faith in our own inner light may require patience, persistence and a renewal of personal presence.

Like the sun, we ourselves are connected to the movements of the universe. We follow the flow and continuous cycles of life on this planet, our home in the cosmos. Your own inner light is a boundless star of unconditional love, known as agape to the ancient Greeks, the shining beacon of a ceaseless and eternal fountain of living energy around which your personal universe revolves.

In this time of long shadows, how well to remember that like the sun, your own shining truth is not extinguished when blanketed by an obscuring atmosphere. No matter the clouds of circumstance in your world, know and trust that the light of inner beauty burns brightly as love and life within you.

Love itself does never die, nor can it end. Love between people is never lost; it simply transforms. When you think it’s over, it’s not. It is there within you, in the changed you, around you, and in the changed world around you. And as the sun also rises, the resurrection of your true nature once again beckons for expression, calling you to celebrate and prepare to make merry in this, “the Season of Light.”

My love and light go with you,

Peter
